Major General Jagath Alwis assigned to pursue and hunt down anti-Namal elements
The President has assigned the head of the Army intelligence regiment, Major General Jagath Alwis to investigate in individuals who act against parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa and to take appropriate action against them.
Major General Jagath Alwais also acts as the military head of the Presidential Security Division.
One of the tasks assigned to the Army officer is to gather information about seniors in the government who speak against Namal Rajapaksa.
Meanwhile, the Army intelligence unit is reportedly keeping a close tab on journalists and media organizations that publish articles critical of Namal.
A special unit headed by an Army Lieutenant Colonel has been established for this purpose in the intelligence division.
