TV stations directed by courts to hand over Fonseka tapes to CID
The court today ordered a private TV station to release the CID tapes of the speeches made by Gen (retd) Sarath Fonseka in Ratnapura and Ampara drawing reference to the controversial white flag issue.
The order was given by the Colombo Additional Magistrate, Sujeewa Nissanka aftre the CID filed a motion in Court.
The TV station (Sirasa) was also ordered to release tapes of news items related to the issue as well as the interview given by Gen Fonseka.
Gen Fonseka in the speeches in Ampara and Ratnapura had reportedly drawn reference to the controversial remarks that the Defence Secretary had given orders that LTTE cadres trying to surrender with white flags should not be spared.
